Gun Control (no effect on hunting)

In a  report from the AP, Giuliani stating that his gun control policy had no effect on hunting. I would like to know how this argument has anything to do with the second amendment. The second amendment was not put into the constitution just to ensure a persons right to hunt. It was installed to allow for several things.

First and foremost, the right to keep and bear arms was given to us so we could defend our lives. Our founding fathers believed a person should not have to be a victim of illegal crime. The only way they could ensure this was to give us the right to defend our lives and property.

Hunting was also a reason for this right. Although, at that time hunting was more of a need than a sport. I do believe they realized that the need for hunting may become less significant. Hunting is still important to many people in our society.

I believe the most important reason for the second amendment was to protect ourselves from an all powerful government. These men had just won our independence from England. They believed in a persons rights. They also believed in defending those rights. How could we ensure this without the ability to arm ourselves? I'll answer that. We can't.
