Dem's policy to pull out of Iraq fails in the Senate

The Dem's policy to pull out of Iraq has failed in the Senate. I guess Bush can put away his veto pen. The plan, which need 60 votes to pass failed 50-48.

In the Senate, after weeks of skirmishing, Republicans easily turned back Democratic legislation requiring a troop withdrawal to begin within 120 days. The measure set no fixed deadline for completion of the redeployment, but set a goal of March 31, 2008. The vote was 50-48 against the measure, 12 short of the 60 needed for passage.

I hope this was just another ploy by the Dems to get votes. That does seem to be the only explanation. I believe many of them know we should not leave until the job is done.

But, I thought 911 was an inside job.

Well, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has confessed to organizing 911. Can't say as I am surprised. Although I would like to see all those people who was convinced it was an "inside job" on all the news shows now. You know they will come up with some crazy explanation. I would like to here it, though.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Al Qaeda suspect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has claimed he organized the September 11 attacks on the United States and a string of others, according to the transcript of a military hearing at the U.S. detention camp in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, released on Wednesday.

"I was responsible for the 9/11 Operation, from A to Z," Mohammed, speaking through a personal representative, said according to the transcript of the hearing on Saturday at the U.S. military's Guantanamo Bay prison camp in Cuba.

Mohammed, a Pakistani national, also said he was responsible for a 1993 attack on New York's World Trade Center, a nightclub bombing in Bali, Indonesia, an attempt to down two American airplanes using shoe bombs and other attacks.

Gathering of Eagles

I would love to attend the Gathering of Eagles event on March 19th. Unfortunately I will miss it due to work requirements. I hope everyone who attends has a wonderful time. Mary Katharine Ham has about this wonderful event:

Saturday, March 17, a bunch of pro-troops, patriotic Americans are converging on the Capitol to counter the moonbats who have decided to use Saturday as a day to be led by Cindy Sheehan in their call for the impeachment of Bush, the ouster of the Bush regime, and the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq without regard to the fates of Iraqi citizens or American national security.

The Gathering of Eagles details are, here, so join us if you can, and sign the petition to let them know you're on your way.

Here's where we're meeting up.

Need a ride? Hop on a GOE charter bus! Some seats still available

Jawa reports that the Eagles are gathering steam, but are lagging in numbers to confront the moonbat hordes. We need all the help we can get to keep the friendly anarchists from spray-painting public property and defacing war memorials, so get on board.

Please try to make it if you can.

Top Iranian Personnel cutting and running from Iran.

Interesting news on top Iranian personnel can be found here.

An Iranian Colonel, a former Iranian Deputy Defence minister, dozens of Iran's Republican Guard, and Iranian Military Intelligence officers are "cutting and running from Iran":

Tehran has lost contact with a senior Iranian officer serving in Iraq, according to London-based Arabic newspaper al-Sharq al-Awsat. Iranian source speculates that he may have been taken into custody by Americans.

The Iranian source said that it is still unclear why contact with the officer, Colonel Amir Muhammad Shirazi, was lost. "It is possible that the American forces in Iraq arrested him along with a group of 13 Iranian military and intelligence officials," he said, adding that this is just one of the scenarios being investigated by Tehran. The lack of word from the al-Quds officer is attracting heightened interest because of the mysterious disappearance - or perhaps defection - of Iran's former Deputy Defense Minister, General Ali Reza Asgari , a week ago.

And:

Former Iranian defense minister's fate still unclear

The lack of word from the al-Quds officer is attracting heightened interest because of the mysterious disappearance - or perhaps defection - of Iran's former Deputy Defense Minister, General Ali Reza Asgari , a week ago.

An Iranian source denied reports circulating in Iran that Asgari was being held prisoner by the Americans and is being tortured. "The people investigating the affair have no new information about him. Such reports are part of a propaganda campaign intended to … prevent other high-ranking Iranian officials who may be thinking of defecting from doing so," the source told the Iranian news agency FARS.

Also:

The newspaper reported that over the past three years, dozens of members of Iran's Revolutionary Guards and military intelligence units have defected to the American forces in Iraq.

Officers from various branches of Iran's armed forces operate in Iraq in both covert and overt roles. The United States accuses Iranian agents of aiding Shiite militias in Iraq with training, weapons and funding. Over the past few months, American forces in Iraq have arrested a number of Iranian officers.

Ace has an interesting question:

Are our spies fleeing their country?

And if so, why?

Sure does make you wonder.

Is this what schools are supposed to be teaching?

We need to have more interest in what our kids are learning in school. Deerfield High School is having gay and lesbian upperclassmen teach freshmen about gay rights issues. I have had reservations for years about what my children have been learning in school. I think it may be getting out of hand:

Officials at Deerfield High School in Deerfield, Ill., have ordered their 14-year-old freshman class into a "gay" indoctrination seminar, after having them sign a confidentiality agreement promising not to tell their parents.

"This is unbelievable," said Matt Barber, policy director for cultural issues for Concerned Women for America. "It's not enough that students at Deerfield High are being exposed to improper and offensive material relative to unhealthy and high-risk homosexual behavior, but they've essentially been told by teachers to lie to their parents about it."

In what CWA called a "shocking and brazen act of government abuse of parental rights," the school's officials required the 14-year-olds to attend a "Gay Straight Alliance Network" panel discussion led by "gay" and "lesbian" upperclassmen during a "freshman advisory" class which "secretively featured inappropriate discussions of a sexual nature in promotion of high-risk homosexual behaviors."

"This goes to the heart of the homosexual agenda," Barber said. "The professional propagandists in the 'gay-rights' lobby know the method all too well. If you can maintain control of undeveloped and impressionable youth and spoon-feed them misinformation, lies and half-truths about dangerous, disordered and extremely risky behaviors, then you can control the future and ensure that those behaviors are not only fully accepted, but celebrated."

He said not only is forcing students to be exposed to the pro-homosexual propaganda bad enough, but then school officials further required that students sign the "confidentiality agreement" through which they promised not to tell anyone – including their own parents – about the seminar.

Barber said that also aligns with the goals of the disinformation campaign being run by those in the pro-homosexual camp. "That's what homosexual activists from GSA are attempting to do, and that's what DHS is clearly up to as well."

They are making freshmen, that are very impressionable, take these classes. These young 14 year old kids look up to the upperclassmen. I have a child that is a freshman in high school. I cannot tell you what action I would take if this happened to him, but it would not be pretty.

Any school official who was involved in the planning or implementing of this training should be fired.

Nancy Pelosi wants the military to have the ability to do the work of Congress?

The Speaker of the House is calling on Gen. Pace to change the military's " don't ask, don't tell" policy. There is only one problem with this. This policy is mandated by congress.

PELOSI: I was disappointed in the moral judgment that the chairman of the Joint Chiefs made this morning, or whenever it was, reported this morning, and I was more interested in the statement made by Gen. Shalikashvilii, a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs, when he said that, “If America is ready for a military policy of nondiscrimination based on sexual orientation, the timing of the change should be carefully considered.” I think the military should carefully consider changing the policy. We need the most talented people, we need the language skills, we need patriotic Americans who exist across the board in our population. We don’t need moral judgment from the chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

The video.

We need the most talented people, we need patriotic Americans to lead the Congress of this country. Unfortunately, we don't have them.

Do unto others.

I agree with Karol from alarming news about attacking the attackers:

Kneecaps, cont.

What the left is doing to Cpl Matt Sanchez is disgusting. In the past, when they've viciously outed someone, they used the excuse that the person had somehow hurt the gay marriage movement. An example is when they outed Rick Santorum's chief of staff. But Sanchez had no role in the gay marriage debate, his public issue was military bias on campus.

I've written before what I'd do in an outing situation. I maintain that unless we, and I mean us straight people here too, get serious about attacking the attackers, exposing their secrets to the world, showing that political disagreement taken to the lowest level will not be tolerated, it will continue to happen.

We all have secrets. I wouldn't expose someone just because I disagreed with them politically. The fact that the left will gleefully try to ruin someone's life for daring to disagree with them needs to be punished.

I'll end with some Nas: "it's a small world/ you reap what you sow/ what goes around comes around/if you sleep you don't know. A very small world/ where beef can never end/ at the time you least expect it/I'm going to see you again."

I understand the right's reluctance to do this. Personally, I think it is wrong to do this. But the fact of the matter is IT WORKS! The Democrats won the majority by doing just that. They had no plans or ideas about anything. They ran Republicans in the ground every chance they got. If nothing could be found on them, they invented something. Meanwhile, they can do anything they want without the fear of being attacked: Jefferson, Murtha, Dean....... It may be time to put Democrats in the same situation as they have been putting us in for years.

Troops out by Oct. 08?

This is absurd. The whole story can be found here.

In a direct challenge to President Bush, House Democrats unveiled legislation Thursday requiring the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq by the fall of next year.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the deadline would be added to legislation providing nearly $100 billion the Bush administration has requested for fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

THe legislation requires Bush to demonstrate whether progress is being made in Iraq by July 1 of this year and again on Oct. 1.

If progress is not demonstrated at either deadline, the process to take troops out of Iraq would begin.

Pelosi said if progress is shown, combat troops would still begin withdrawing by March 1, 2008 and be out of the country by September. "There are dates certain here for the first time in the congress for the redeployment of our troops out of Iraq," Pelosi said.

There is no way of knowing when we will be ready to pull out. My suggestion is when we win the War on Terror. If we pull out too early we will be fighting again, soon. It is appalling to add this to a funding bill. Fund our troops. Give them what they need and let them work.

This is another fine reason for our President to have the ability to use a line item veto.

What is the world coming to

The topic of this post is this.

First:

The folks at PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, are calling out Al Gore, saying if he really wants to fight global warming, he should become a vegetarian.

PETA has sent Gore a letter saying giving up meat is the quickest and most effective way to combat climate change because the meat industry is one of the most significant sources of environmental damage.

PETA claims, "raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars and trucks in the world combined." And, it says, researchers have determined that switching to a vegan diet is more effective against global warming than switching from a standard American car to a Toyota Prius hybrid.

These people are out of their minds.

Next:

Cross Returns

After months of controversy, The College of William & Mary will return a brass cross to the school's historic Wren Chapel. The decision by a committee of alumni, students and faculty follows threats by alumni to withhold contributions — including one $12 million donation.

The cross was removed after President Gene Nichol said he wanted to make the chapel more welcoming to people of all faiths. But it will soon be back in what is called a prominent, readily visible place — inside a glass case with a plaque explaining the school's Anglican heritage.

Money talks.

Next:

Impeachment Vote

32 towns in Vermont Tuesday passed resolutions calling for the impeachment of President Bush, for allegedly misleading the country about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and for engaging in illegal wiretapping.

The symbolic votes came on Vermont's annual "Town Meeting Day" — which dates back to colonial times. Five towns passed similar measures last year.

Congressional Democrats have largely steered clear of any impeachment talk. Also on Tuesday, 16 Vermont towns passed separate measures calling for an immediate troop withdrawal from iraq.

To silly to talk about.

Last:

"Wrongful Birth"

And a Boston woman has filed what's being called a "wrongful birth" lawsuit, alleging that a Planned Parenthood clinic botched her abortion, and another doctor failed to notice she was still pregnant afterward.

The 45-year-old woman is seeking child-rearing costs for her now two-year-old daughter and other damages. She says she originally sought the abortion for financial reasons — and believed it had been accomplished until she had to go to the emergency room for pelvic pain about two-and-a-half months before giving birth.

Massachusetts law requires a tribunal to screen the complaint to see if it has merit to go on to trial.

Unbelievable.

A terrorist testing our airport security

Is there any doubt about what the Iraqi man, Fadhel al-Maliki, discovered to have a magnet and wires in his rectum, at an airport in Los Angeles was doing. He was not a threat then. That is the idea. If you make it through with that "harmless object", you can make it through with a piece of equipment with that type of magnet installed. It makes sense to try to get all the components past a security checkpoint one at a time, so when you need to bring them all together you know they will not be discovered.

Unless your last name is Clinton, perjury is a crime!

I think Mr. O'Reilly is right with this statement:

Mr. Libby told a grand jury he did not provide info about Ms. Plame. But today a jury decided that he lied. Thus Scooter Libby was convicted of four felonies — basically obstruction of justice and lying under oath. So that's the deal.

I also think he is right with this statement:

The entire case reminded me of Ken Starr and Paula Jones. President Clinton got into trouble for failing to tell the truth under oath as you know, just as Libby has. Interesting to see how the left in both cases handled it. Right?

I think both men should be in jail.  The fact of the matter is, this is a country that goes by the rule of law. I think all of us should be required to live by the same rules. For his sake I hope Mr. libby can get an appeal. I am not 100% sure he is guilty. But, by the laws of our country, he is.

This being said. I am 99.99999% sure, Clinton is guilty. Anyone that lies in court should be in jail. That is our law. No American is supposed to above the law.

Read all of Mr. O'Reilly's report here.

Update: I had not kept up with this story very well. After hearing the verdict and doing some research I have decided to change a line from above (changed line is in bold letters). I am 99.9999% sure he is innocent. But that still does not change the fact he was found guilty. I hope the appeals process works. This man does not belong in jail.

We Need Jessica's Law

Via tomdelay.com:

O'Reilly & Oprah: Unlikely Allies in an Important Struggle

In any truly just society, the protection of children from predators and abusers must be of the highest priority. To that end, Jessica’s Law should and must be passed nationwide, thus signaling our country’s zero tolerance policy on child predators. Still, however, some states resist adopting this much needed measure. This is where Bill O’Reilly and Oprah Winfrey have stepped in. Both of them are waging nationwide campaigns for the adoption of Jessica’s Law and they remain outspoken proponents of child protection and staunch advocates of severe punishment for offenders. Mr. O’Reilly even appeared on Oprah’s show yesterday to discuss the situation. View that video here.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally commend Mr. O’Reilly and Ms. Winfrey for their important work on this issue and if you would like more information on the status of the nationwide Jessica’s Law campaign please visit O’Reilly’s information page

Of all the things the government could be doing, this would really be worth there effort.

Al Gore For President

What do you think about this story?

Al Gore Will Not Only Run, but He Can and Will Win in '08

With an Oscar Appearance, and a Hit Documentary Gore Is Suddenly Very Cool

OPINION By ANDY OSTROY

Feb. 27, 2007 — Make no mistake: Former Vice President Al Gore will be our next president.

I am as confident about that assertion as I am that George W. Bush will go down in history as America's worst president ever. Gore is the right man at the right time, for many reasons. And it's clear that the momentum and buzz is shifting his way big time.

At Sunday's Oscar ceremony, Gore's movie producers took home the coveted prize for best feature documentary for "An Inconvenient Truth," his scorching red-flag raiser on global warming.

Gore joined them on stage and was graceful, poised and presidential. And it didn't hurt his hipness quotient any to be getting a little Leo DiCaprio love either. The politician also joined the Hollywood star on stage during the Oscars. That's right, Al Gore is suddenly cool.

It gets even better. In October, Gore will also likely be the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for being the planet's biggest advocate in the fight against climate change. His prestigious nomination in this exclusive club puts him in the company of such independent thinkers, statesmen and activists as Dr. Martin Luther King, President Jimmy Carter, Elie Wiesel and Mother Theresa.

Now let's talk chops. Gore's an enlisted Vietnam vet who served four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, two terms in the Senate, and eight years as vice president in one of the most successful administrations ever. Let's not forget that he won the popular vote in 2000, and as many say, the Electoral College as well.

So wait, he's hip, he's brilliant, he's highly experienced. Is America ready for a real leader after two terms of a guy who makes Jim Carrey's "Dumb and Dumber" character seem downright cerebral? You bet your asinine Bush-isms it is.

I even have the perfect campaign slogan for Gore: "Imagine how it would've been."

Just imagine what the country would be like today had he become president in 2000 and not Bush. Imagine an America without this bloody debacle in Iraq. Imagine an America that commands the respect of its allies and is feared by its enemies. Imagine an America that puts the environment before big corporate interests. Imagine having a president who strives to bridge the gap between rich and poor, where the middle class, not the wealthy, gets the tax breaks, and where the minimum wage is not a shameful $5.15. Pretty powerful stuff on the campaign trail, huh?

Andy Ostroy is editor and publisher of The Ostroy Report, a New York-based blog that aggressively combats the powerful right-wing spin machine, taking on Bush, the Republican Party and the conservative media.

    Is this guy insane.

Don't get me wrong I would like to see Gore run, just to see how many democrats are willing to back him again. I would like to here him explain how the 20,000+ kw hours a month of energy he uses at his Nashville mansion figures into his Global Warming strategy. Or all the miles logged on jets, and in SUV's for that matter. When I imagine how it could have been:

No bloody War in Iraq (But a lot of bloody Americans, in America)

Bridging the gap between the rich and the poor (All while destroying the economy, as well as capitalism)

No shameful $5.15 minimum wage (But a lot of unemployed workers, or lower paid workers having their hours cut. Not to mention the price increases that always follow a hike)

Pork Report

Mary Katharine Ham has an interesting post up on the Rep. who won the Civilians Against Government Waste's "Porker of the Year" award. It does not surprise me that the winner is a Democrat. What surprises me is when you follow the link to the story from her page here, you will see the next three are Republicans.

I hope that Republicans will soon realize that Pork spending really hurt them in the last election. It was the promise of less spending that gave them the majority in the 90's.They failed to keep that promise. That had a major role in taking them out of the majority. Until these big spenders realize their base does not want them throwing our money away, I think they will have a hard time clawing back into the majority.
