War in Iraq

This is my first post on Iraq. This is the last time you will see War in Iraq written on my blog. This is because we are involved in a battle in Iraq. The War is against TERROR and the Countries that Support Terror. Iraq was one of those countries. I'm not going to sit here and try to convince you of this. If you are so blind as not to see this, no one will be able to make you open your eyes.

I am not going to make excuses as to why it is taking so long to stabilize the country. We are at war. Have mistakes been made. Of course they have. Our military is made up of human beings. Human beings make mistakes. I think the biggest mistake is to allow politics to play such a major role in any war. Ever since we stopped allowing our military leaders to control the wars we fight, our track record in battle has not  been so good. The leaders of our military are in the position they are in because they are the best we have. LET THEM WORK.

We are not just fighting Iraqi insurgents in Iraq. Iran and Syria are supplying fresh troops to the area. We are finding weapons supplied by Iran. we are in a battle with fanatics, who do not care to die. There religion teaches them to hate us. There leaders will make any sacrifice to destroy our way of life. This war will be a long one no matter how long we are in Iraq. If we pull out, it will only embolden the enemy. They will perceive this to mean our country is weak. I do not believe the USA is weak, even if our elected leaders are.

Either way we go in the war, Americans are going to get killed by terrorist. If we stay there we are sure to lose more soldiers. If we pull out, we are faced with attacks on our homeland. It will be innocent civilians getting killed here instead of in Iraq.

I hope the people elected to lead our country open their eyes soon. Let our military do their jobs. There is not a doubt in my mind that every American would like to see this war end. Unfortunately, we can not end it on our own. Until the people we are fighting decide to stop, we are forced to fight back. If we come home they are going to follow us here. (It's not that hard to enter our country)

Death Certificates for Aborted Fetuses

Fox News has a report up about a bill introduced in the state of Tennessee that would require abortion clinics to file a death certificate for aborted fetuses. The clinic would have ten days to file.

Rep. Stacey Campfield introduced the bill:

"All these people who say they are pro-life — at least we would see how many lives are being ended out there by abortions," said Campfield.

As usual, the democrats will oppose the bill:

House Judiciary Chairman Rob Briley, a Democrat, called Campfield's proposal "the most preposterous bill I've seen" in an eight-year legislative career.

"It is totally inconsistent with everything the law contemplates as it relates to anything close to that subject," he said.

Where I stand on this subject is: We are not going to be do anything about abortion until we can change people's attitudes on this subject. Bill O'Reilly has an excellent opinion on this in his book: Culture Warrior. If you have not read this book, DO IT!

Do we have immigration laws or what?

I would link a post from michellemalkin.com, but I'm new and have not learned how. Michelle Malkin has a post up she credits is from the front page of the Wall Street Journal. Evidentally the Bank of America has decided to give credit to illegal aliens. They will not ask for a social security number or any proof of citizenship.

This is a direct violation of federal immigration laws:

1907 Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) Offenses

Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) defines several distinct offenses related to aliens. Subsection 1324(a)(1)(i)-(v) prohibits alien smuggling, domestic transportation of unauthorized aliens, concealing or harboring unauthorized aliens, encouraging or inducing unauthorized aliens to enter the United States, and engaging in a conspiracy or aiding and abetting any of the preceding acts. Subsection 1324(a)(2) prohibits bringing or attempting to bring unauthorized aliens to the United States in any manner whatsoever, even at a designated port of entry. Subsection 1324(a)(3).

Encouraging/Inducing -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv) makes it an offense for any person who -- encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law.

Conspiracy/Aiding or Abetting -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(v) expressly makes it an offense to engage in a conspiracy to commit or aid or abet the commission of the foregoing offenses.

Penalties -- The basic statutory maximum penalty for violating 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(i) and (v)(I) (alien smuggling and conspiracy) is a fine under title 18, imprisonment for not more than 10 years, or both. With regard to violations of 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(ii)-(iv) and (v)(ii), domestic transportation, harboring, encouraging/inducing, or aiding/abetting, the basic statutory maximum term of imprisonment is 5 years, unless the offense was committed for commercial advantage or private financial gain, in which case the maximum term of imprisonment is 10 years. In addition, significant enhanced penalties are provided for in violations of 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1) involving serious bodily injury or placing life in jeopardy. Moreover, if the violation results in the death of any person, the defendant may be punished by death or by imprisonment for any term of years. The basic penalty for a violation of subsection 1324(a)(2) is a fine under title 18, imprisonment for not more than one year, or both, 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(2)(A). Enhanced penalties are provided for violations involving bringing in criminal aliens, 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(2)(B)(i), offenses done for commercial advantage or private financial gain, 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(2)(B)(ii), and violations where the alien is not presented to an immigration officer immediately upon arrival, 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(2)(B)(iii). A mandatory minimum three year term of imprisonment applies to first or second violations of § 1324(a)(2)(B)(i) or (B)(ii). Further enhanced punishment is provided for third or subsequent offenses.

What is worse is that the Executive Branch has decided to use this to help push through there amnesty plan.

Department of Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke said banking products aimed at illegal immigrants "reinforce the need for a temporary worker program" that the Bush administration has been promoting. That program would screen, tax and otherwise regulate immigrant workers and, the administration contends, would squeeze out illegal workers who now use forged or stolen documents to get jobs, driver's licenses and occasionally credit.
    This is truly a shame.

Gun Control (no effect on hunting)

In a  report from the AP, Giuliani stating that his gun control policy had no effect on hunting. I would like to know how this argument has anything to do with the second amendment. The second amendment was not put into the constitution just to ensure a persons right to hunt. It was installed to allow for several things.

First and foremost, the right to keep and bear arms was given to us so we could defend our lives. Our founding fathers believed a person should not have to be a victim of illegal crime. The only way they could ensure this was to give us the right to defend our lives and property.

Hunting was also a reason for this right. Although, at that time hunting was more of a need than a sport. I do believe they realized that the need for hunting may become less significant. Hunting is still important to many people in our society.

I believe the most important reason for the second amendment was to protect ourselves from an all powerful government. These men had just won our independence from England. They believed in a persons rights. They also believed in defending those rights. How could we ensure this without the ability to arm ourselves? I'll answer that. We can't.
